Hereís a true music sensation for you! Linkin Park has made it to the top, after years of hard work and persistence to the core! Now they are a common household word among the teens of today. The three foundation members of Linkin Park started out in Agoura Hills, California while in high school. After graduating, they recruited more band members and recorded songs in 1996. But it wasnít until 1999 that they signed a deal with Warner Bros. It was hard earned but worth it.
In 2000 their debut album, now a Diamond rating, took them to their sought-after goals in the mainstream. Hybrid Theory continues to disappear from the shelves as hands reach out for its nu metal sound. The album was nominated for three Grammy Awards. Linkin Park sold over four million records during their first year.
Successful singles from Linkin Park include Numb, What I've Done and In The End, one of the most popular. Naturally, donít leave out their second album, Meteora, which sold over 800,000 copies in its initial week and thus continued to rocket their success. This 2003 album went to the top of Billboard 200ís charts and sparked their tours and charity work the world over.
The band was first called Hybrid Theory and the name was changed to Linkin Park after Lincoln Park in Santa Monica. They performed at more than 320 concerts during a one-year period. They go and go and go, never to stop. And add onto everything else that they are helping our planet as they go.
Linkin Park has participated in raising money for Hurricane Charley victims, as well as the ones who suffered in Hurricane Katrina. Staging a number of charity concerts in 2004, they worked to help efforts of relief in the Tsunami disaster. In order to raise our global awareness, they also took part in a series of charitable benefit concerts called Live 8.
Some of the bandís great singles are made into music videos; these are songs like Breaking the Habit, Somewhere I Belong And Numb. Numerous awards later, Linkin Park moves on in our world, entertaining and pleasing their fans. Now you can get Linkin Park posters, stickers, ringtones and music videos. You can easily find their lyrics on the Internet via search engines.
Their latest and greatest is the album, Minutes to Midnight, which moved into other popular genres. It was released in May of this year and already topped the charts because 625,000 copies went into consumer hands in the first week. That made Minutes to Midnight the best seller for a debut week in this year so far.
So after now receiving two Grammies and a new album going out the top, what are they going to do as a follow-up? Will they branch off into new styles? Will they collaborate with other new stars? Will they help some up and coming new musicians find their niche? Itís all up to them as the world is their canvas now and they can paint it how they like.
