Who wouldn’t like to be famous like Paris Hilton? Who hasn’t, when they were younger, or even now, stood in the shower with the shower sprayer as a microphone and belted out the best show tune that ever existed? And who hasn’t dreamed of making millions with their talent of designing fashion, recording a record album, or writing a book. Who hasn’t dreamed of photos of them appearing all over the media? Paris Hilton may have started out with an inborn fame, but she’s taking it the extra mile.
The world is open to the rich, is it not? Who better to take advantage of their wealth and stardom than Paris Hilton? Turning into an entertainment news icon, she has everything pretty much at her fingertips, but that hasn’t let the rumors of the “idle rich” stop her from becoming a self-made woman.
There are rumors that she won’t in fact inherit the thirty or fifty million from the Hilton Hotel fortune due to being written out of the will. And why? It’s said that it’s because her grandfather wasn’t too happy about the escapades that landed her in jail. You have to wonder, however, how true this is, since the media certainly can stir up a whirlwind of controversy about anyone – to get readers, of course. There is still the real estate fortune of her father to think about. How about what she gets for her home in Beverly Hills when the deal is done?
Paris was born in 1981 as Paris Whitney Hilton and started her reputation as a young socialite in 2001 when considered the New York IT GIRL. Then exposure really rocketed her fame in 2003 when a sex tape, released on the Internet, took on a life of its own. It was released just before Paris appeared on the Fox reality series The Simple Life. A publicity stunt? Who knows. And actually who cares. You liked the series or you didn’t. You became infatuated with this new celebrity or you didn’t.
You can’t fault Ms. Hilton for being one of the rich who laze in their wealth. She is considered a businesswoman, and is most definitely carrying that title with pride. She has modeled since a child, even signing on with Donald Trump’s agency, T Management, and other modeling agencies in New York, Los Angeles and London. She’s hit the spotlight in ads for GUESS, Christian Dior and Tommy Hilfiger. She even acted in a movie, House of Wax, a horror film released in 2005.
She is related by marriage to Zsa Zsa Gabor and Elizabeth Taylor, and although this is just a far-flung relation, she could become as famous as these ladies just through her name and her entrepreneurial actions in the present. She is having fun being a designer and recording artist, and it’s much better than lying around the pool all day.
In 2004, Paris proved her business smarts and founded Heiress Records. This is a sub-label of Warner Bros. Records, and under this umbrella, she released her debut album. In August of 2006 “Paris” hit the shelves and made number six for one week on Billboard 200. Not bad for the “idle rich.” She released two singles after the first of Stars are Blind, which were Turn It Up and Nothing in This World. These received mixed reviews, but also had comments that indicated they were more “fun” than releases by Britney Spears or Jessica Simpson. Apparently a new album will be out in fall of this year.
Now add to all this production her status as author. She’s written her autobiography, and another publication called Your Heiress Diary: Confess It All To Me. Will she need an inheritance? She can make her own way! Maybe her original fame gave her a start that none of us could achieve by the rights of our birth, but she makes the most of it!
What with her purse collection for Samantha Thavasa, her jewelry line, her perfumes and hair extensions, Paris doesn’t sit still for a minute. Unless it was the time incarcerated and the sitting still she had to do.
Picked up for a DUI and going to jail is nothing new for far too many people in this country. And maybe some could see this coming for Hilton. It is the life of a notorious famed icon to drink, party and live it up, isn’t it? But when this means tarnishing your name and that of your family’s, you would think it would have an inhibiting effect on you. But not so with Paris, and she went to jail just like anyone else. It came with all the emotional impact that would inflict a normal person, and more.
There was a lot of press from this arrest, and of course the heated debate on whether she should stick it out in jail like anyone else under arrest for a DUI. Just being in such a situation, let alone experiencing the jail environment, violated the standards of high living that she was accustomed to. But such is life, or so they say. You get what you deserve in the end. And perhaps it all worked out for the best?
Now with a life dating handsome actor Adrian Grenier, starting her own clothing line, and introducing it at the upscale boutique, Kitson in Beverly Hills, Paris is moving on. She is living her dream and making her own fortune. Isn’t that a good thing?
